VAR might want to take a look at why Eric DIRE is playing centre half with Alderweireld & Vertonghen on the bench.

Ha ha!!

Not to have any sympathy for spurs but that decision last night was an absolute shocker. One of the very worst, nonsensical situations I've seen so far.

How the fuck is Moura supposed to do anything else? He's fouled and falls over (ref plays advantage) someone kicks it and it hits his arm from about a foot away, while his arms are out to cushion his fall and that's a handball? COME ON. Zero common sense there.

To add insult to injury for them, they don't even get the free kick for the foul when play is restarted?

Farcical.

Shocker at Spurs
Are they planning to do anything?
I hope they plan an end of season review and make changes to how it is used?

Whatever VAR was created to do it is somehow doing the opposite Technology has once again proved that humans will sometimes balls things up, because it is ultimately humans who refuse to use some common fucking sense.

Didn't they change this absurd 'handball' law recently to it's only now disallowed if the player either scores or directly 'assists' with his hand/arm? ie our goal at Sheff would stand now as Rice was involved 2 phases back from the goal.

Another shocker from VAR, and as much as it was nice to see Spurs on the end of it, how the fuck Lucus Moara falling over and putting out his hand to stop him hitting the ground and the ball “appears” to graze his hand so goal is ruled out for handball is a fucking joke.

Mind you I remember years ago Alvin Martin getting sent off for something similar! Got overturned on appeal but equally fucked up

Would be interesting to see a table showing all the VAR decisions for against for every team. Must be some bloke in an anorak that has the data? :-)

Fuck me how shit is their defending. I suppose you don't have a chance to test it if you play for a 0-0 draw against them.

Re: This shit we have to deal with re: the VAR and all that
The ‘lines’ were initially checking Soucek

They probably played for time reviewing the action praying for a handball in the previous 5 minutes of play

Then they realised there was no way Soucek could be infringing any of the laws

So they reverted to Antonio

Sorry but do I understand this correctly that nowadays VAR overrules the referee on the pitch?
Surely the final decision must be in the hands of the ref, not the technology.

Re: This shit we have to deal with re: the VAR and all that
What I didn't really understand with the Antonio offside was that you could see he was "offside" with the naked eye from the very first replay.

So, there was absolutely no need to fuck around with the lines for another 3 minutes.

Hermit Road 9:26 Thu Jul 2
Re: This shit we have to deal with re: the VAR and all that
Last night was a joke. All the VAR seemed to be interested in was the position of Antonio with no consideration as to whether he was interfering with play.

That is a goal whether Antonio was there or not, therefore he cannot have been interfering.

Also, why isn’t the ref going over, looking at that and making the judgement call on interfering. That is a judgement call and should be the match referee’s job

Sven Roeder 9:24 Thu Jul 2
Re: This shit we have to deal with re: the VAR and all that
Declan Rice had the ball booted against his arm at Sheffield Utd

The rule says ANY handball in the build up rules out the goal
Don’t have to look hard to see it in the Moura case
It’s a stupid rule but it was applied perfectly
It HAS to change as it’s nonsense

Kaiser Zoso 9:24 Thu Jul 2
Re: This shit we have to deal with re: the VAR and all that
Yeah that is what happened, but as he fell initially, he put his arm out and it brushed the ball.

Not that I've seen the sp*rs one. I wouldnt watch them or sheff its if they were playing in the back garden.

I read he fell and it was kicked at his arm
